The James Webb Space Telescope discovered a distant spiral galaxy

In another of his great achievements, the james webb space telescope from the NSA planned captures a spectacular image of a spiral galaxy hitherto unknown to the world scientific community.

As mentioned by the North American space agency, it is the ADEL 2046648 which is located at more than 1 billion light-years from earth more precisely in Ito hercules constellation,

“This valuable astronomical discovery took place within the framework of the campaign of Commissioning of the Near Infrared Imager and Slitless Spectrograph (NIRISS) of the Webb which, in addition to the scientific activities it also carries out in its own right, makes parallel observations with the near-infrared camera of the Webb (NIR Cam)”, explained the scientists, through a press release issued by NASA.

NIRCam captured this image packed with galaxies while NIRISS was observing the white dwarf WD1657+343a well-studied star, allowing astronomers to interpret and compare data from the two different instruments and characterize the performance of this powerful instrument.

After the discovery of this spiral galaxy, NASA scientists announced that investigate the chemical composition of thousands of galaxies with the aim of trying to shed a bit more light on how heavy elements formed and built as they evolved.
