Texas Tech’s Joey McGuire and Dimitri Moore deny racial slurs, spew accusations of “false and irresponsible”

Texas Tech Football Coach Joey McGuire has denied an allegation by Mississippi’s Lane Kiffin that linebacker Dimitri Moore spat on one of his players and may have used a racial slur during Wednesday night’s Texas Bowl game.

McGuire issued a statement Thursday calling the allegations “false and irresponsible.”

“We are disappointed that an opposing head coach has chosen to make serious allegations that are false and irresponsible,” McGuire’s statement read. “I have discussed these allegations with dimitri moore and disputed the two claims that were brought against him”.

Kiffin said during a press conference after the game that Jordan Watkins, wide receiver for Ole Miss he incorrectly received a personal foul and filed two allegations that a Texas Tech player had spit and used a racial slur, adding that he did not hear the comment, but someone told him.

Moore also issued a statement on Thursday, further denying the allegations.
