The Minister of Justice, Martín Soria, ruled that the testimonies presented in the Political Judgment Commission of the Chamber of Deputies showed that there are “seven years of institutional decline” in the highest court and affirmed that “there are various sectors affected by its malfunctioning ”.
“We are facing a political trial that is not circumstantial; seven years of institutional decay are being judged. There are multiple causes presented for poor performance and there are various sectors of society affected by the malfunction of the Supreme Court magistrates”, the official expected in radio statements.
As he recalled, “in Brazil it was the judges of the Supreme Court themselves who annulled the investigation of Sergio Moro; here it is the Supreme Court itself that is losing this institutional degradation.”
Soria questioned different measures and episodes of Justice, such as the ruling favorable to the City of Buenos Aires for the co-participation funds or the trip of magistrates to Lago Escondido, and detected that it is about the “degradation of the institutional system that put at risk the foundations of the republic.
He precisely stressed that many of the suspicions cannot be passed through the Judicial Council, because “it was paralyzed by the Supreme Court itself.”
“How important is the institutional mechanism of impeachment to clean up this Judiciary, which was co-opted by the macrismo and which does so much damage to the credibility and functioning of Justice in Argentina,” stressed the man from Rio Negro.
