San Lorenzo returned to victory against Godoy Cruz with a VAR penalty

San Lorenzo beat Godoy Cruz de Mendoza 1-0, at home, in a match that was played at the Pedro Bidegain stadium. The only goal of the match was scored by Paraguayan striker Adam Bareiro, from a penalty, 9 minutes into the second half, and in this way San Lorenzo broke the unbeaten record of the Mendoza team.

The Barça team, which came from losing to Lanús, started from the start imposing its rhythm by stepping on the rival area, but without generating work for goalkeeper Diego Ruso Rodríguez. For his part, Godoy Cruz came out to play on the counterattack in the first quarter of the game looking to take advantage of the spaces.

But over time, Tomba evened it out and remained in control of the game, but without depth or dangerous situations due to the performances of Pier Barrios, Gonzalo Abrego and Roberto Fernández.

For the Cyclone, at minute 39 Bareiro gave a pass to Cerutti, who launched a cross that Vomberbar connected with a cue and goalkeeper Diego Rodríguez cleared as required.

Already in the second part, at 9 minutes and after a long check by Nazareno Arasa in the VAR, the local had the penalty that Bareiro turned into a goal.

Godoy Cruz relied on the danger that attacker Tomás Conechny -former San Lorenzo- reaffirmed, but he was imprecise in the definitions, so Cyclone’s victory was fair due to what was demonstrated on the field of play.

The temperature that the city of Buenos Aires endured was also decisive in the match, which at the time the match began was 36 degrees and at each stage of the match there was a 5-minute suspension for the players to cool off.

Defender Federico Gattoni was not even on the substitute bench in Boedo’s team, until his situation is resolved – his transfer to Sevilla, from Spain – will not be taken into account by the Barça coach.

San Lorenzo, who deservedly won, reaches six points in these three dates, and will continue his journey in the tournament next Monday, the 20th, when he visits Sarmiento de Junín, while Godoy Cruz will host Estudiantes de La Plata.
