San Juan already has a telescope to study the sun

The province of San Juan It has a new and powerful telescope that was installed in the Dr. Carlos Ulrico Cesco Astronomical Station –dependent on the Faculty of Exact, Physical and Natural Sciences (FCEFN) of the National University of San Juan-, which is located in the city of Barreal.

Its about telescope HATwhat was it installed by astronomers from Brazil thanks to a Cooperation agreement astronomical with the mackenzie university from the neighboring country and whose main mission will be the one of study the sun for specific astronomical purposes.

“The radiations emitted at the origin of the explosions that occur on the Sun in the far infrared band, also known as terahertz (THz) are the object of research that has acquired special relevance in the astronomy in recent years and it is an area rarely frequented worldwide,” said Rodolfo Bloch, dean of the FCEFN.

“The Mackenzie Presbyterian University is working with our researchers from solar area in astronomy, which has been directed for many years by Carlos Francile, director of the Félix Aguilar Astronomical Observatory. He has made this agreement with the Brazilians.
