With the celebration of an assembly, which summoned 900 people, the UIA was born. The president was Senator Antonio Cambaceres, who managed the first of the industrial censuses. That survey arose 400 enterprises that gave work to 11 thousand workers.

The entity brings together companies and sectorial employer chambers linked to the activities of the industry in Argentina.

The UIA is part of the Group of Eight that brings together the Argentine Rural Society, the Argentine Industrial Union, the Argentine Chamber of Commerce, the Construction Chamber, the Stock Exchange, the Association of Private Banks of Argentine Capital (ADEBA) and the Association of Banks of Argentina (ABA).

11 years after its creation, a group of merchants, who, according to the Trade Center, assumed the representation of the industrialists on their own and held an Industrial Exhibition. In turn, they interviewed President Julio Argentino Roca, who was asked to open Customs for manufactures of foreign origin.

The UIA expressed its disagreement with the proposed measures, so the central factory had to hold an act, which summoned all the country’s industrialists on July 26, 1899. The newspapers of the time mentioned that it summoned 70,000 people.

In the ’90s, the president of the UIA, Jorge Blanco Villegas, publicly stated to Domingo Cavallo and President Menem his support for “the continuity of the economic plan.” Currently its president is Jose Ignacio De Mendiguren.

At its 133 years of life, the industrialists of the organization are concentrated in an annual conference. In turn, it has Regional Forums, with the participation of some 3,000 businessmen, whose objective is to increase the industrial potential of the different Argentine regions.

On February 7, 1887, the Argentine Industrial Union was founded.
