The biggest docu-series released on Netflix this year, which scored nearly double the points of second place, was harry and meghan, the explosive documentary of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. Going into excruciating detail on her marriage, the exclusive series looked back on the last years of her life. It made waves thanks to its staggered release and clearly captured viewers around the world no matter “which side” they landed on.

Entering number 2 is Formula 1: drive to survive, which summed up the incredible 2021 F1 season and was controversial to say the least.

Focusing only on the United States, only 43 docu-series made it into the top 10 in the US throughout 2022 and there are some key differences compared to the global rankings.

Like everywhere else, Harry and Meghan’s story managed to captivate viewers there, but the cheerleading docu-series, Happinesshe was much closer to taking the top spot.
