reality is watching The Wizard in order will likely be a tall order, given that the first season of the mothership show covers over a century alone. Not to mention, if you saw it in real”chronological order” would need to start and stop many episodes of the first season.
As you can see in the timeline below, you’d be jumping back and forth through the episodes multiple times. This we do not recommend.

how to watch The Wizard on Netflix in “Chronological Order”
In addition to the events of the first season, watching The Wizard in chronological order on Netflix is not too complicated. However, with the introduction of new stories and spin-offs, it could be easy for new The Wizard lose yourself in the movies and spin-offs that have been developed.

The Witcher: Origin of Blood

Book adaptation: None, an original story by the writing team.

The first, and arguably the most controversial entry in the franchise, takes us over a thousand years before the events of The Wizardand to the Conjunction of the Spheres, a cataclysmic event, which ultimately led to the creation of the first Witcher.
The series was created by Declan De Barra, who was already a writer at The Wizard. However, longtime fans of the franchise struggled to enjoy origin of bloodplacing much of the blame on the direction of the story, and the deviation from The Wizard tradition that was already established from the novels of Andrzej Sapkowski.

The Witcher: Wolf’s Nightmare

The first spin-off of the franchise, there wasn’t a Witcher fan in sight who wasn’t excited to see Geralt of Rivia’s mentor Vesemir in action, especially a young Vesemir in his prime.
The Korean animation studio Studio Mir was behind the production of Nightmare of the Wolf, with Divergent actor Theo James doing an excellent job playing the veteran warlock.
Escaping poverty to become a witch, Vesemir slays monsters for money and glory, but when a new threat arises, he must face demons from his past.
The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep

Book adaptation: A Little Sacrifice (Published in the Sword of Destiny book)

The second animated film from South Korean animation studio Studio Mir, The Witcher Sirens of the Deep technically takes place between the events of The Witcher’s first season. sirens of the deep is an adaptation of a small sacrificea short story from the Sword of Destiny book, and another adventure for Geralt.
The development of The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep is currently ongoing with a likely release sometime in 2024. For chronological purposes, you can watch the movie before or after The Witcher season 1. Alternatively you could see sirens of the deep after the second episode of the first season of The Witcher once the character of Dandelion is introduced.
The Wizard (Season 1)

Book adaptation: The Last Wish / Sword of Destiny

To begin with, the chronology of the first season of The Wizard confused many Netflix subscribers. This was due to the fact that the first season is an adaptation of the prequel books, The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny, which take place before the events of Blood of Elves, the first entry in The Wizard novels
The story explores Geralt’s past through some of his most notable adventures, including his exploits with the bard Jaskier, his fateful encounters with the sorceress Yennefer, the origin of his nickname “The Butcher of Blaviken” and how fate placed him. on his way to meet Ciri, the granddaughter of the Queen of Cintra. Meanwhile, the rest of the story focuses on Ciri, who flees Cintra after the Nilfgaard invasion and goes in search of Geralt.
Overall, the first season was very well received, with much of the praise going to Henry Cavill for his excellent portrayal of Geralt.
The Wizard (Season 2)

The second season of The Wizard covers the events of Blood of Elves, the first published book of The Wizard novels Geralt, who after finally meeting Ciri, takes his adopted daughter to Kaer Morhen, the fortress home of the Witchers and the Wolf’s school. It is here that Ciri begins her journey to control her blossoming powers.
It didn’t take long for the writers to stamp their own mark on The Witcher’s story, as fans of the book were disappointed that the story had already strayed too far from the story written by author Andrzej Sapkowski. Overall, the second season was considered a success for Netflix, however it also started the chain of events that saw Henry Cavill announce his departure from the series after the third season.
The rats (Developing)

Book adaptation: None, new original story from showrunner Haily Hall
Cast: Christelle Elwin, Fabian McCallum, Aggy K. Adams, Juliette Alexandra
One to keep in mind for the future, The rats is an upcoming spin-off sidequel and a new story of The Wizard writer Haily Hall. The story will center on the Nilfgaardian criminal gang of the same name and will be featured in Volume 2 of the third season.
The rats it is meant to take place before the Nilfgaardian invasion of Cintra, which is before Ciri meets Geralt for the first time. However, the technical sequel takes place after some of Geralt’s adventures in the first season. This means that you could watch The Rats before the first season, however we recommend watching the series after the second season of The Witcher, this is because the gang will be introduced in the third season.
Filming is still ongoing for The ratsand its launch is scheduled for the summer of 2024.
The Wizard (Season 3)

The third season of The Wizard will cover the events of the second novel in the series, Time of Contempt. Volume 1 of the third season will be released on Netflix on June 29, with Volume 2 coming a month later on July 27, 2023. The third season will also mark the departure of Henry Cavill as Geralt, who will be replaced by the The Hunger Games actor. Liam Hemsworth.
