Heat wave and drought: there are active fires in five provinces

The fire situation in Argentina continues to be dramatic. According to the National Fire Management System, there are five provinces throughout the country that have active sources.

The south of the country suffers the most powerful fires, being the Los Alerces National Park in Chubut one of the most affected since Saturday. More than 130 brigade members work in the place.

The Government of Chubut promised to add equipment to take care of the UNESCO World Heritage. Devastated hectares are already more than 1,400 this year alone.

In Corrientes, meanwhile, There is a fire that even the brigade members cannot control. In January, the fire destroyed more than 27,000 hectares, mostly wetlands.

There are still active foci in parts of the Iberá National Park and, according to specialists, the fires could continue until April. Other provinces that light up with active bulbs are Tierra del Fuego, Buenos Aires and La Pampa.

The heat wave and drought are aggravating factors for this type of phenomenon. This morning, the City of Buenos Aires and several areas of the GBA woke up with smoke due to the large number of active fires in the south of Corrientes.
