Belgrano left undefeated in La Paternal

The fourth was the charm. Belgrano gave up his unbeaten record yesterday at La Paternal, where the local Argentinos Juniors ended up celebrating a comprehensive 3-0 win.

El Bicho took advantage of all the defensive advantages that El Pirata gave him, and that explains the wide distance between one and the other on the scoreboard. The first, when barely 4 minutes were played and Francisco González Metilli put the bow on a play that he himself started and that had as a scale a stay from Lucas Diarte and a precise cross from Javier Cabrera.

From the side of the court, Gabriel Milito, the local DT, was the one who wrote the best staff. Knowing that Guillermo Farré was not going to alter the line of five defenders, defending a wide team in attack, even assuming the risk of leaving his three players in the background and the kid Federico Redondo exposed. His direction executed the score well.

Handcuffed on the sides, it was difficult for the Cordovan team to climb positions, beyond the fact that they found some loopholes to put a couple of filtered passes, always with Pablo Vegetti as a beacon. Without the support of the wings, it was difficult for him to gravitate to Ulises Sánchez and Bruno Zapelli in the midfield, who also had to give the Longo-Rojas tandem an important hand to try to tie the hand in the center of the field.

The most lucid moment of the visit was when Argentinos Juniors took their feet off the accelerator and began to give up ball handling and pressing. It was a few minutes, the last ten or fifteen that preceded halftime, that made us think about the possibility that Belgrano managed to reverse a duel that had been uphill from the start.

The local appeared to reverse the most complicated moment that the game presented. After Redondo was sent off, 40 minutes into the first half, he quickly rearranged the pieces, first quickly filling the vacancy with the entry of Franco Moyano, and then putting Santiago Montiel and Alan Rodríguez on the pitch. His changes made sense.

Belgrano’s touch-ups were slow in coming. To top it off, El Bicho increased the advantage 7 minutes into the plugin, with Joaquín Susvielles and Guillermo Pereira waiting to enter and give the Pirate another face.

After the 2-0 draw, a scramble on the right that ended with two players entering alone on the opposite side, Celeste completely faded. Franco Jara entered to complete the attack trident with Vegetti and Susvielles, but at that point the host was already defending with four in the background and left no space for his opponent to clearly advance. Just a distant shot from Zapelli was registered in the note book on side “B”.

A scissors from Ávalos, at minute 27, lowered the curtain on the Belgranense expectation of being able to twist the fate of defeat. The changes changed nothing. They just added more hubbub and more confusion. At that point, only Erik Godoy will remain, and we are the ‘survivor’ of that line of five that had been a pillar and sustained in previous presentations. The result could have been more bulky, perhaps exaggerated at the time of the balance, but Nahuel Losada kept the penalty from the youthful José Manuel Herrera with five minutes to go. The curtain fell slow and merciful.
