Discovering La Escondida in Carhué

We are on a vacation period and we cannot stop taking the rod wherever we go, so, to give you some options, today we are going to talk about a destination closely linked to rest, but that it keeps an ace up its sleeve for lovers of winter fishing, carhue. Located 530 kilometers from CABA, in the Party of Adolfo Alsina and very close to the border with the Pampas, this picturesque city offers a unique route to appreciate up close the work of the architect Francisco Salomone.

In addition, its museum, where we can learn in depth part of the history of the native peoples of the area, and what the conquest of the desert left behind. Also, the curious ruins of a flood, the lake and the hot springs among other tourist attractions. With respect to fishing is plentiful but you have to be informed to get to one of the many water mirrors that surround it, something that our friend Fabián Strach Katz achieved after several visits to the town and that this time materialized when he met Don Agustín, owner of some nearby fields containing La Escondida, a lagoon that is difficult to locate without the permission and guidance of its owner.

To get to it we have to go from Carhue, toward Route 60 on the Héroes de Malvinas road, cross that route and follow a few 35 km along the country road with towards San Miguel Archangel, until reaching a depression in the land where the lagoon appears, which, according to what they indicated, usually grows rapidly with rain and floods access, for which reason the vehicle must stay away from the shore. The place is inhospitable and it is essential to have everything you need to face the day, which in this case was icy and with heavy rain at times.

The fishing was from the coast and as Fabian told us, the key was in the hooks, the Mustad 277F N° 1/0, which allowed a small or medium-sized mojarra to be presented, achieving an effective hook without it coming off in the set, which, on the other hand, had to be as far as possible, using bottom line and 100 gram sinker at least. When the wind subsided, he was able to change to a more subtle equipment, a 2.70-meter rod with a 30-gram lead and a single branch, something ideal to increase the sensation of fishing which, by the way, was all with return and in one quantity as quality, excellent. Finally, it is worth clarifying that there are no bait stalls in the area and they can only be obtained by ordering them in Carhué at the access to the Illia neighborhood.
